Vision Statement:
Inspire to develop Cottage Grove as a forward thinking, sustainable and ecologically mindful community for residents to enjoy tomorrow and beyond.
Mission Statement:
To educate and enhance the Village of Cottage Grove for a future sustainable community.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
On September 21st, the Village Board unanimously approved a Resolution that commits Cottage Grove to transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources with the goal of having 100% of Village operations sourced from renewable energy by 2040. 2020-11 Resolution
Current Sustainability Projects:
- We are currently exploring placing solar panels on several Village owned buildings in addition to larger community based solar projects in collaboration with Alliant Energy
- We are in the middle of a Village-wide tree inventory to assess the health and disease risk of our Village canopy and increase the diversity of native flora in the Village.
Past Sustainability Projects:
- Cottage Grove recently installed LED lighting throughout Village Hall and the Municipal Building by contracting with Energy Performance and Lighting based here in Cottage Grove. https://energyperformancelighting.com/tools-info/case-studies/government-office-buildings/
