Cottage Grove Elementary Afterschool Programs
Reader’s Theater - Program Full
Location: Cottage Grove School - DLC Room
Instructors: Ms. Braun & Ms. Cizek
Cost: $35 per participant
Dates: Thursdays Afterschool, October 8, 15, 22, November 5, 12, December 3, 10, 17
Times: 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm
Are you ready for Reader’s Theater (RT)? RT is reading performance mixed with dramatic fun! Sessions will begin with theater games to help develop students performance and creative skills. Ms. Braun and Ms. Cizek will model techniques to prepare students to perform using scripts. Come have some fun with your friends as you learn to express yourself and perform creatively! Students meet in DLC room right after school.
Junior Silver Eagles Fitness Club
Location: Cottage Grove School (meet in gym after school)
Cost: $35 per participant
Dates: Tuesdays Afterschool, November 10 - December 15
Times: 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm
Different running and field games will be emphasized, along with staying fit and active at the program and at home. Students will track “mileage” during the program (tracking at home and at club) to earn awards at different mileage levels. Dress appropriately, program will meet in gym but go outside to use the school fields and forest (shoes, boots, hats, coats, etc). Upon snow’s arrival we will be sledding and outside hiking!
Glacial Drumlin AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM
Place: Glacial Drumlin - Community Room (C201)
Dates/Times: Thursdays, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Session 1: Oct 8, 15, 22, Nov 5, 12, Dec 3, 10, 17
Session 2: Jan 21, 28, Feb 4, 11, 18, Mar 4, 11, 25
Grades: 5th - 8th
Cost: $50 per student (50% scholarship available)
Registration Deadline: One week before classes start 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm
Snack and Social Time (supervised by Cg Rec. Dept. Staff) - healthy snack is provided + outdoor fun, board games, homework time 4:00 - 5:00pm

Fired Up Pottery - Play with Clay!
Instructor: Kim Stanfill-McMillan, Fired Up Pottery
Minimum of 8 students needed
In this exciting class, students will make a mirror for their locker, lidded box and free choice. We will be learning the basics of working with clay, and will be able to create more complex projects because of the length of the class.
All materials, glazes, firing and finished items, such as beads and mirrors are included.
Glass Fusion...is it solid or liquid??
Instructor: Susan Welsch
$30 extra glass material fee - Minimum of 6 students needed
Believe it or not...it can be both! Discover the creative possibilities of working with glass. You will create a one-of-a-kind necklace, tangram puzzle, coaster, mirror or picture frame, holiday ornament, and a small dish or candle holder.
The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
Outdoor Adventure Club (school forest)
Instructor: CG Recreation Staff
Minimum of 8 students needed
Check out this club as we stay active by heading off to the school forest. Kids will be transported by MG Schools to the forest and return to GD School. Activities will include outdoor adventure activities like hiking, orienteering, and sledding.
Dress accordingly as the club will spend time outdoors; getting dirty, wet, and cold!
Glacial Drumlin Gardening Club (Session 2 Only)
Instructor: CG Recreation Staff
Minimum of 6 students needed
Got Dirt? Let's Grow! Imagine the fun of planning, digging, planting seeds, & watching them grow in the GDS Community Garden. Club members will learn how to grow their own food in a garden and plan/build a raised garden bed. Have fun, grow food and make new friendships while working with seeds, soil and plants. Dress appropriately for spending time outdoors!
